A plant-based diet, rich in phytochemicals from sunlight and carbon dioxide, supports healthy aging and optimal health. To promote a healthy metabolism on an omnivorous diet, incorporate plenty of fruits and vegetables for essential nutrients and antioxidants while minimizing processed foods, meats, sweets, and salt. Aim to reduce saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, and salt for better health.

To stay healthy, engage in physical activity.

Aim for 150 to 300 minutes of moderate exercise weekly, defined as being able to talk but not sing. This can be as simple as 30 minutes a day, five days a week. Consider the 7-Minute Workout app for quick sessions, but longer vigorous workouts are better.

Incorporate high-intensity interval training with sprints and low-energy activities for 75-150 minutes weekly, and include strength training 2-3 days a week to maintain muscle strength.

ADEQUATE SLEEP

Although eight hours of sleep is recommended for most people, some may need less or more sleep based on various variables, including their age and lifestyle choices, such as how much coffee or alcohol they take in the hours before night. These practices have been shown to interrupt quality, peaceful sleep cycles while sleeping. Too much rest during the day may leave us feeling unproductive when attempting to complete tasks such as schoolwork or house chores, whereas having enough downtime after a long day means feeling refreshed when getting back up again the next morning - don't forget how vital relaxation can be, since stress has been shown countless times throughout history as being directly linked to reducing longevity years lost due to heart disease in those who are exposed frequently.
